If you don't have a college nearby where you can go regularly, it would be better to do a distance course. Such courses are available at IGNOU. You can do Diploma, Certifications and various UG courses like BA. Search for your the nearest IGNOU centre and they will provide you with all the information.

If your priority is to make sure you stay closer to your hometown/village, then firstly, explore nearby colleges. See what courses they are offering like sciences, arts and commerce. Next, see where your interest lies and skill sets are. Check if, after doing courses from the colleges closer hometown, you are able to land a job or not (if in fact securing a job is very important ). Accordingly, make a choice. Alternately, you can consider doing distance courses too. Example, IGNOU, Annamalai University, Sikkim Manipal University, etc.
