    Dear Antara Paul,
B.Tech lateral entry means that studying B.Tech directly from the 2nd year. B.Tech after 12th is a good and a wise option but direct 2nd-year admission is very good because of experience and knowledge, you will be more experienced than a regular 2nd-year student. While, it doesn't ensure a good package but your chances will definitely increase.

In this, basically, if you did your Diploma after 10th or 12th and you want to study it further for graduation, then you can go for B.Tech by lateral entry in which you will get admission in 2nd year of B.Tech directly and then, you can complete your degree and it will have same value as compared to normal B.Tech.

B.Tech lateral entry is a special programme for mostly Diploma holders and sometimes for B.Sc graduates to pursue B.Tech in the desired field directly from 2nd year. That way B.Tech can be completed in 3 years only.
