International students must meet the University of Galway requirements to study undergraduate and graduate courses. They must also submit proof of English language proficiency to get into the university. Mentioned below is the list of documents applicants must require for the University of Galway admission:
- Academic transcripts: High school degree for undergraduate and a bachelor's degree for graduate admission
- Additional test score: ACT/SAT for bachelor's and GMAT/GRE for master's entry

All applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in the English language. The University of Galway accepts a variety of English language tests, including:
IELTS: 6.5 overall, no less than 5.5 in any one component
TOEFL iBT: 88 overall, no less than 20 in each section
Pearson Test of English (PTE): 61 overall, no less than 48 in any one component
Cambridge English: C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall, no less than 182 in writing
