Air traffic controllers ensure that aircraft fly safely and efficiently through their airspace. They guide and advise pilots at take-off, during the flight, as they approach the airport and when they land. They are sometimes called air traffic control officers (ATCOs). The Work You could be: Using radar to make sure all aircraft are a safe distance apart and following flight plans. Giving instructions and advice to pilots by radio. Getting position reports from pilots. Checking flight plans and making calculations on computer. Making decisions based on types of aircraft and weather conditions. Dealing with changes in flight plans due to bad weather conditions, security alerts or other emergencies. You could work as one of three types of air traffic controller: Area/terminal controller: You would be responsible for aircraft flying in one particular piece of airspace, keeping in constant radio contact with the pilots, tracking and guiding them. Approach controller: You would deal with planes preparing to approach for landing, putting them into correct sequence for landing and guiding pilots while they land the aircraft. You might also link them to the guidance system for automatic landing when weather conditions are poor. Aerodrome controller: You would deal with planes once they are about to land, guiding aircraft through landings, take-offs and handling their movements on the ground, to and from the runway. The environment in a control tower when fighters fly is similar to that of an English action movie - with the radars blipping and the tense moments between the controller and pilots in conversation on various scenarios." Air traffic controllers are personnel responsible for the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic in the global air traffic control system. Usually stationed in air traffic control centers and control towers on the ground, they monitor the position, speed and altitude of aircraft in their assigned airspace visually and by radar, and give directions to the pilots by radio. Air Traffic Controllers need to be people who are extremely cautious and think before every action they take and along with that be very hardworking and be able to handle stressful situation with great mental alertness. They have to be very cautious of the decisions they make, since they have a large number of lives in their hands. Air traffic controllers must be able to solve problems on a typical day at work and they should be able to take initiative and must always need direction from their superiors. Air traffic controllers at busy international airports should be fluent in English and they must be able to work in a team. A good eye sight and a calm attitude are also necessary to succeed as air traffic controller. The selection shall be made on the basis of a: 1. Hello, This is that set of personnel who make the flying and lives safe of all passengers and crew of the aircraft during takeoff and landing of aircraft on the runway. ATC controls all traffic of Aircraft on ground on runway, it gives permission to start up and it gives permission to be in queue for takeoff and during landing. It keeps airplanes safely separated in the sky to avoid any accidents. It's the agency that can make or break the efficacy of the operations at any airport. Airports Authority of India conducts course for training in ATC. Basic eligibility is Bachelor. All other information is available on its webpage. There is no other course that can help you in getting job as ATC officer. One had to be smart, good pronunciations, command over language, discipline are some of the traits that are required to make a person good ATC officer.

Dear, The profile involve for getting placed on Air Traffic Control is a really intricate. There is lot of work and expectations with lot of timely delivery. Hence, you need to be much more prepared to be in ATC. This is considered as most mentally challenging job in the world. The position of air traffic controller is one that requires highly specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities. Controllers apply 'separation rule' to keep aircraft at a safe distance from each other in their area of responsibility and move all aircraft safely and efficiently through their assigned sector of airspace, as well as on the ground. Because, controllers have an incredibly large responsibility while on duty (often in aviation, "on position") and make countless real-time decisions on a daily basis. To be an Air Traffic controller, you need to have technical degree (Aeronautics preferred). Apart from that your fluency in English is must.
