EEE involves real core electrical circuits and heavy machinery work. It involves a lot of theoretical concepts, real hard work, and long hours. ECE on the other means u have to deal with circuit mechanisms and transistors and millions of wiring. Placement wise both the branches are good. Here are some of the best colleges :
Vellore Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu
Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani)
    PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore
    Lovely Professional University, Phagwara
SRM Institute Of Science & Technology, Kancheepuram.

In electrical and electronics engineering (EEE), you will study about the electricity generation and equipment used in that like motors, wires, generators, etc., but in the electronics and communication (ECE) engineering, you will study about the manufacturing of the electronics products that are used for communication like telephones, optical fibres, mobiles and many other things.

Both branches differs from each other by only few Electives. 80 to 90% syllabus is common. ECE has few papers of Telecom Engineering. Where as EEE has more emphasis on Electrical Engineering. Job opprtunities gor ECE graduatrs are slightly better nowadays.
