Selection shall be based on merit as derived from the qualifying examination of the applicant. It does not usually proceed on the lines of any national-level entrance exams such as CAT or MAT. Usually, the admission is through the merit of the prior degree. Generally, the university conducts its own entrance test if it deems fit.
