Dear Atu,
Lateral Entry is for diploma holders, those who do 3 years diploma well approved by Govt. norms, and then give their own entrance exam for admission into engineering colleges.
And as they have studied 3 years after 10th, they are directly given admission in 2nd year of engineering.

lateral entry is admission directly into the second year B.Tech for students who have done 3 year diploma or Polytechnic and have qualified in ECET. Admissions for lateral entry in any engineering college in AP are through ECET. All the engineering colleges have lateral entry scheme
