The top b-schools want those people who have done something with their life or plan to do so. They want those who have wasted not even a single minute of their life. So you'll have to justify what extraordinary you did in that one year. If you plan to do a job simultaneously then its fine, but do no

See your value will be as you portray it. If they ask you, why did you plan to drop a year. You should be ready with a good answer. If they ask you what productive did you do in that year, you should be ready with an answer that shows you as a well planned and productive person.
