    The higher your CGPI is, it shows how thorough and regular you are within your coursework. If two candidates tie during an interview, the interviewer will definitely choose the one with a higher CGPI. It is the skills that you possess which matters but at times, having good CGPI helps. Some companies measure the candidate's potential in terms of college performance which in turn gets measured in terms of CGPI. So do not ignore it and study hard. To achieve a good CGPI is important.     Always in the placement section, there is a criterion set according to different companies. Some of the companies set the first filter according to CGPA, for more a proper percentage in 10th and 12th is required. So, it's better to be on the safe side because for you passing is just a priority but for the other companies, it may be the academics. So, keep your CGPA above the proper line. It's not like that if you have a less or average CGPA, you will not get placed but you will lose some of the opportunities for sure but if you are extraordinary then there can be a different case for them.
