As a German student, you receive a National Visa (Type D), not a standard Schengen visa, but it has equivalent benefits:

• You can travel freely across all 27 Schengen Area countries without a separate visa

• This includes France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic
