Major means majority of subjects.
Like B.A major in geography,political Science,philosophy,psychology and many more.
and this time,actually we used major cum Honours.Ex. B.Sc Hons.,M.Sc Hons.

I think b.sc major means b.SC honours... you can do b.sC in your favourite subject like chemistry , Physics, maths, botany etc.
