IT stands for "Information Technology".
A trending and hot field in market, nowadays, with a wonderful job scope.
If you like computer and technologies related to it, then you can opt IT engineering.
Basically, IT engineering has curriculum based on the software technologies and a bit of hardware.

Information Technology is related to software mainly. You would be taught both software and hardware. During the course, you will learn about data structures, DBMS, etc. All the best.
