What is better, a B.Tech in biotech or a B.Sc. In biotech?

The biotechnology subject primarily deals with the research and applied aspects of biological processes. In respect to research in biotechnology, the B.Sc. In biotechnology will be a better option. However, if you want to work in an industrial process-related field, you can pursue a B.Tech in biotechnology. 1. The B.Tech in biotechnology covers both Science as well as engineering subjects like genetics, bioprocess engineering, biochemical engineering, etc. 2. On the other hand B.Sc. In biotechnology deals with the research and development in biological sciences such as biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Microbial Genetics, etc. 3. With a B.Tech in biotechnology, you can get jobs like junior biotechnology engineer, field application scientist, or market research associate. 4. With a B.Sc. In biotechnology, you can get jobs like junior researcher, lab technician, and biochemist. Most students prefer to go for research work or a doctorate degree in biotechnology after completing their B.Sc. The B.Tech is preferred by those looking for jobs after graduation in this field.

There are many differences between B.Tech biotechnology and B.Sc. Biotechnology. B.Tech is a 4-year course while B.Sc. is a 3 year course. In B.Tech Biotechnology you will learn about other branches of engineering also in your first year whereas in B.Sc. Biotechnology you will directly learn about your core subjects. Of course you will also get exposure about other Science subjects but your course will have maximum papers from your honours paper. In B.Tech biotechnology the main subjects start from second year and you will have a lot of laboratory work and more subjects. Biochemistry would be an important paper and you will also have to deal with many Differential Equations. On the contrary in B.Sc. Biotechnology, you will have a relaxed schedule and less laboratory work as compared to B.Tech. In B.Tech, application of whatever is being taught is given more importance while in B.Sc. Biotechnology theoretical part is given more importance. No matter you study B.Sc. Or B.Tech if someone wants to make a career in this field you have to study further. B.Sc. Is pure Science while B.Tech is Technology oriented. B.Tech has an edge over B.Sc. Because it is considered at par with M.Sc. One can directly even go for Ph.D. even after B.Tech but this is not the case with B.Sc. One has to do M.Sc. after B.Sc. in order to get in Ph.D. If you're a Technology oriented student, then go for B.Tech or if you like science more then go for B.Sc. and then M.Sc.
