Plastics industry is in major demand and majority of research is focused on developing new polymers. Plastics are literally everywhere you look. Some plastics called engineering plastics are specially used because of their excellent properties. They are good replacement for metals as they are easy to use, cheap and can be prepared easily. So I would suggest if you want to pursue a career in polymer field, go ahead, don't look back. In this field, you can start your own company. Do a career in research. You can work in marketing also. The payscale will be high enough as you gain experience.

Hi Serena,
We have compared biomedical and plastic in another of your question. Now, let's see what these branches are all about. Syllabus of chemical engineering covers the major topics which are core field topics.
Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that uses principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics and economics to efficiently use, produce, transform, and transport chemicals, materials and energy.
Chemical engineers develop and design chemical manufacturing processes. Chemical engineers apply the principles of chemistry, physics, and math to solve problems that involve the production or use of chemicals, fuel, drugs,...more -
Chemical engineering is considered to be one of the best core engineering branches and has lots of scope so go for it!
All the best for your bright future!
