What is better among chemical and plastic engineering?

Plastics industry is in major demand and majority of research is focused on developing new polymers. Plastics are literally everywhere you look. Some plastics called engineering plastics are specially used because of their excellent properties. They are good replacement for metals as they are easy to use, cheap and can be prepared easily. So I would suggest if you want to pursue a career in polymer field, go ahead, don't look back. In this field, you can start your own company. Do a career in research. You can work in marketing also. The payscale will be high enough as you gain experience. If you look around yourself, the keys of the keyboard you're using to type are probably ABS-PC blend of plain ABS. Here ABS stands for Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene copolymer. As well as our mobile phone back-covers. The comb we use in the morning is probably LDPE. Also the polyethylene bags for our daily groceries. The plastic chairs we use are HDPE. Also the shampoo bottles. PET bottles hold our oil, water as well as cold drinks. The plastic scales we use are all of Polystyrene as well as the cover of the ball-point pens. If you are interested, go for PE. Else, CE is already a well-established domain. Choose wisely.

A plastic is a polymeric material that is in a semi-liquid state, having the property of plasticity and exhibiting flow. Plastics engineering encompasses plastics material and plastic machinery. Although the parent branch of plastic engineering is chemical engineering, they are different. You should study the domain of both of these streams separately and then decide as per your interests.

Chemical engineering has better job opportunities than plastic engineering. Being a plastic engineer will limit your field. But as a chemical engineer, there are many options available for you.

See, if you want to do job for the lifetime, then I'll prefer you to opt for the chemical engineering but if you want to start your business after doing job for sometime, then you should opt for the plastic engineering.
