What is biotechnology?

Dear Anwin, The definition of biotechnology varies, but a simple definition is the use of living organisms by humans. It is a very interesting and innovative area of study. Biotechnology deals with the use of engineering technology on life forms. This stream has occupied almost all fields like agriculture, electronics, medicine, therapy etc. Now it is difficult to think about a field devoid of the contribution of biotechnology. Biotechnology courses are research & development based subject in health and medicine, agriculture and animal husbandry, cell biology, ecology, soil conservation science, physiology of plants, biostatistics and other related fields of operation. There are good career opportunities in the field of Biotechnology students could be placed as scientist in the areas of Human health, pharma, animal health, animal husbandry, dairy, chemical and biochemical, food processing, crime and parentage disputes, agriculture, forestry & fisheries. Biotechnology is enormous in different areas like, agriculture, medical, food industry etc. This is even helpful in solving some of the social issues like forensics. There are various types of Biotechnology like, animal biotechnology, agriculture, industrial biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, forensic Biotechnology & food biotechnology. Biotechnology has been used since ages e.g. breeding of animals and crops, producing useful products by fermentation. It also uses basic principles of fundamental physics and chemical sciences. B.Sc. Biotechnology is one of emerging sectors of medical line. Any person who is interested in medical stream courses can opt. B.Sc. Biotechnology. There are variety of jobs in this sector.
