Hi,
Natural gas is called clean fuel because:
- Natural gas burns cleaner than the other fossil fuels such as coal and oil due to the highly efficient combustion process, which produces very few by-products that are released into the atmosphere as pollutants.
- Natural gas produces 70% less carbon

Epca 's report on Clean Fuels, which it submitted to the Supreme Court in early July 2001, argues that no hydrocarbon fuel can be specified as a "clean fuel" which does not cause pollution or is not otherwise injurious to health.
