What is deference between CS, CE, SE and IT?

Computer Science (CS) is a study of the theory, applications of engineering principle for the design and use of computers based systems. Computer Science deals with mostly software aspect of Systems and Application Development. Computer engineering (CE) deals with design, implementation, and management of software & hardware based information system and electronics systems to automate processes. Computer Engineering mainly is field respect to computer hardware. CE graduates are trained to integrate several disciplines such as Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Software Design, etc. Nowadays, most of engineering colleges offer Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) degrees where students undergo both software and hardware courses. B.Tech CSE graduate specializes in theory of computation and design of computational systems. CSE graduates are trained to integrate several disciplines such as Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Software Design, etc. The CSE graduates are mainly involved in the development of software and hardware systems of various aspects of computing for products, systems and Information Systems. B.Tech IT degree has a major focus on computers and technology, it differs from a Computer Science degree in that students are also expected to study management and information Science, and there are reduced requirements for mathematics and theory of computation. Software Engineering (SE) deals with building and maintaining software systems. It is more applied than Computer Science, placing greater emphasis on the entire software development process, from idea to final product. It is also more disciplined than Computer Science, applying more systematic practices to help ensure that products are reliable and safe. There is only subtle difference between CS, CE CSE, IT and SE. IT Industry accepts all to start career as Software Developer.

Computer Science CS is similar to search engine optimization (SEO), but it entails a broader set of skills and knowledge, since CS professionals work to develop compilers and other similarly complicated pieces of software and algorithms. As a software engineer (SE), you need to be adept at matching programming languages to problems, and as an engineer, you need to solve everyday issues such as designing a database, setting up a network, or building the infrastructure for a company as the size of Amazon. SE deals with building and maintaining software systems. It is more software-oriented and has a greater emphasis on large software applications than Computer Engineering. It is more applied than Computer Science, placing greater emphasis on the entire software development process, from idea to final product.

I'll be answering according to how the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) interprets it. As you can see, it firstly implies that computer Science (CS), computer engineering (CE), software engineering (SE), information systems (IS) and information technology (IT) are all recognized and equal disciplines with their own unique and specific factions within the computing field in terms of academe, practice and research. Beginning with CS, it is most distinct from all the other computing disciplines due to its balanced approach in learning both theoretical and applied computing, which allows it to explore the full breadth of the field to a point that CS can (after some additional learning and training) also take on the roles set forth on the other four disciplines. This high level of flexibility that is distinct in CS allows it to thrive in all areas of the field, be it an academician, a researcher or a practitioner. In fact, CS is usually the discipline with the strongest research agenda among the five. They are also more than capable of teaching and instructing topics (in some way or another) crucial to the other computing disciplines. What is most distinct with the four computing disciplines from CS is the fact that all of them focus more on the applied aspects of computing, with the theoretical secondary and supportive of the applied. What this means is that all four are mostly geared towards becoming industry practitioners. The two engineering-based computing disciplines are by no means different. For further differentiation of the four, SE and CE as a pair are distinct from both IT and IS due to the fact that the former pair extensively utilizes engineering principles and practices, whereas the latter pair gravitate more towards management and communications skills. Between the two engineering-based computing disciplines, the differentiation is rather simple. At this point, it might be worth wondering how big of a deal managing projects set to design and develop software turned out to be. With the advancement of software technology that started since the computing field had the chance to grow in the 1950s, systems and software applications has become so complex and heavily used to a point that typical computer Science graduates would only be able to provide mostly the basic capacities of managing projects for developing such high-level and large-scale programs.
