What is GATE all about? Is it important for engineering? If yes, why? What all topics are included in it?

Currently, I am in 11th (Science faculty) and want to become a software engineer. Do I need to write GATE after completing B.Tech from CSE?

GATE is an exam for PG. It covers all subject in particular branch. It is important if you want to get job in government sector on basis of GATE score card. Also on basis of GATE score card you get admission through CCMT to IIT, IIIT, etc. But remember, it is quite tough exam but has many advantages
