  • GATE is a national-level examination that aims to evaluate the knowledge and aptitude of candidates in preparation for admission to engineering and management programmes. The GATE Exam has three major sections: General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and the Core subject the candidate has opted for. General aptitude section is common for all the papers of the GATE Examination. Candidate must know the syllabus of the General Aptitude section  to prepare well for the examination. General Aptitude generally consists of four sections: 

    • Verbal Aptitude 

    • Quantitative Aptitude

    Candidates can check GATE general aptitude syllabus in brief, general aptitude consist of 4 main sections; Verbal Aptitude,   Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical Aptitude, Spatial Aptitude . Verbal Aptitude contains basic English grammer, Quantative aptitude contains basic mathematics, other 2 sections contains rational and logical reasoning questions.

The GATE Exam 2026 fellowship at Chandigarh University is credited on a monthly basis during the eligible fellowship months. The fellowship is paid for 8 months in a year, covering August to November and January to April. Students receive the Rs 12,500 amount each month, subject to fulfilling teaching duties and maintaining satisfactory academic performance. The payment is not made semester-wise or as a lump sum. Students who are not appearing for GATE 2026 will not receive this fellowship but can continue their M.E. programme without any difference in academic structure or evaluation.
