its an entrance xam to get admitted into the iits for various programs like m.tech,m.sc. etc..........also nits,as well as other engineering institutes accept gate qualified candidates for admission into m.tech programs....the syllabus included is the same as that included from the 3rd to 6th semest

it is an entrance exam for the it fields programe if you get good score you get good college.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science.

Gate is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering this will be done after graduation of your Engineering.

GATE is Entrance Test for M.E. / MTech after B.E / BTech / MSc course. So if one wishes to do MTech then he has to first pass and score good marks / points in GATE exams.
