    In Karnataka, the difference between a granted and non-granted college for a Diploma is whether the college receives a grant-in-aid: 
     
    • Granted
      A college that receives a grant-in-aid is a private educational institution that has been admitted by the state government. The state government provides a salary grant to the teaching and non-teaching staff of these colleges. 
       
    • Non-granted
      A college that does not receive a grant-in-aid is a private (self-financing) polytechnic. 
       
    Students from a government or aided Polytechnic can transfer to a private polytechnic, and students from a private Polytechnic can transf
