Honestly, I used to think health insurance was just a backup plan for hospital bills, but the more I looked into it, the more I realised it's basically financial protection for medical emergencies. Instead of paying huge hospital costs from your pocket, you pay a yearly premium, and the insurer takes care of covered treatments.
What confused me in the beginning was how different every policy looked — room rent limits, waiting periods, exclusions, pre-existing condition rules — all these things can completely change your real protection. Two plans can have the same premium but offer very different coverage.
