What is its scope of CMA (US) course in India and abroad?

CMA US enjoys good brand name recognition both within and outside of the US especially in the Middle East and China the title is particularly useful if you aspire to work in these places in the future. CMA USA today in India is considered to be one of the best professional qualification in the finance domain with MNC and fortune 500 companies having some good openings for students clearing this course with a great salary package you can check it all by yourself the job demand for CMA (USA) by visiting any of the job portals like Naukri, Timesjobs, Monster, etc. Just search with CMA (USA) and see the list of jobs available maximum openings you would be seeing from the corporates also you could see the salary packages that these corporates got to offer.

CMA/CWA is much more exclusive and knowledge based as per Indian Standards. CMA US is like a mini MBA - one year course and 2 exams. Whereas CMA India has its course equivalent to CA or CIMA UK. A much tougher course with pass percent around 1% , duration (excluding foundation) min - 2 years, No of papers 16. Moreover, Indian companies , mostly the PSUs doesnt value CMA US as such when compared to CWA/CMA. Also , the field of practice is not open to CMA US. Another point to be noted, one can never join any high rank civil service in India( ex- Indian cost accounting service) by CMA US degree.

It depends where you want to settle in. Often regarded as a Mini MBA the CMA USA is highly in demand by many MNCs. However, if you want to get into a government job or PSU in India, then let me tell you they will give higher preference to a CMA/CWA through ICWAI. With CMA USA, you won't be eligible for any civil service position or promotion. Though, there is a MOU between ICWAI and IMA, wherein IMA recognizes ICWAI members as CMAs. It may not really give a high weightage in India. If you are talking about a comparison between CMA title granted by IMA USA and the CMA offered by the ICWA India, then CMA USA no doubt has more global recognition than the one granted by ICWAI. But, if you are considering to settle in India, then it may not be a great idea after all. CMA India is considered tougher to crack compared to CMA USA. A well-known fact is that, the field of practice is limited with CMA USA and doesn't allow you to practice in India. The best way is to first know where you want to settle down and decide accordingly. .
