Foundation Course 2. Executive Course 3. Professional Course The minimum eligibility to gain entry in the Foundation Course is a pass in 10+2 examination or its equivalent in any stream. A Company Secretary being multidisciplinary professional renders services in the following areas: Corporate Governance and Secretarial Services Corporate Laws Advisory and Representation Services Financial Market Services Management Services Company Secretary in Employment: -Companies with a paid up share capital of Rs.5 crore or more are compulsorily required to appoint a whole-time Company Secretary under section 383A of Companies Act,1956. -All companies seeking listing on Stock Exchange are required to appoint a whole-time Company Secretary -Membership of the Institute is recognized for appointment to superior posts and services under Central Government. -Almost every kind of organization whose affairs are conducted by boards, councils or other association, federation, authority, commission or like , finds it useful to appoint a person who holds the qualification of Company Secretaries in key administrative position. - Many government companies also employ CS such as AAI, ONGC, State Infrastructure Development Corporation etc. -Opportunities also exist in banks. Skills required *Organised *Ability to understand complex & technical issues *Tactful *Competence with numbers *Capability to multi-task *command of written & spoken English *Loyalty to the company Job Opportunities *Specialists in banks in the fields of Finance, Accounts, Law and Merchant Banking . *Organization whose affairs are conducted by boards, councils and other corporate structures e.g. companies, cooperative societies, trusts, associations, federations, commissions , board etc. *Research *Government Grades 1-1V in the Accounts Branch of the Central Company Law Service of the Department of Company Affairs. *Independent advisory capacity and support for procedures of licences, registrations, loans, taxes, partnership deeds etc How do I get there? *After +2 a student is eligible to take the Foundation Course. Examination can be taken twice a year, in June and December. *Candidates who pass the Foundation examination are eligible to seek registration as students to the Company Secretary ship Course. *The course completes after a preliminary, intermediate and final examination. *Final Examination can be taken after 18 months of enrolling in the course and having undergone satisfactory postal or oral tuition for the particular group of final examination. Enrolment is open throughout the year. For appearing in the June examination, enrollment is on up to -September and for appearing in December examination, enrollment is completed by March. Practical experience ranging from two to three years or Management Training for 15 months and four months practical training in a company which is arranged by the Institute is also required. After qualifying in the Final examination and undergoing practical training, a candidate is eligible to be admitted as an Associate Member. Senior Associate members may be entitled to become Fellows. Admission is open to anyone who has passed the graduate examination of a university in India or any other equivalent qualification or those who have taken the foundation examination.
