Spot round happens when after the full admission procedure, there are seats vacant due to various reasons like withdrawal, etc.
So, the University announces its spot round and gives a time period to fill out applications.
On the day of spot round counselling, applicants are called out according to their ranks. The applicant called is given a choice amongst the branches available for admission. They choose and the procedure continues till there are seats vacant.
