Textile manufacturing is a major industry across the globe. It is based on the conversion of fibre into yarn, yarn into fabric. Some of engineering colleges run specialized degree courses on Textile engineering. BTech program in Textile Engineering primarily covers development and characterization of the polymeric raw materials and methods of conversion of the same into textile materials followed by further value addition and appropriate engineering processes into products. Courses also includes subjects related to the management of the textile production facilities. During first 3 semester basics of engineering common to all branches is also taught.
