    The Indian Coast Guard arranges the marks of the candidates in the case if the candidates attempted the CGCAT examination in different shifts to attain a rational approach to the marks. Nevertheless, the normalization process is made using a statistical method before the results could be out. 

    The formula for calculating the normalized marks is:

    Mij: The normalized marks of the jth candidate for ith shift 

    Mtg: Average mark of the top one percentiles of candidates of each shift 

    Mqgm: The total of mean marks in the shift with the highest mean and standard deviation of marks among all the shifts
