    An Operating System is a system software that manages computer hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs. All computer programs, excluding firmware, require an operating system to function. Examples of OS include Windows, Unix, Solarix, OS 360, Chrome OS, Android etc.

    The full form of (OS) is Operating System. An operating system is a collection of programs that acts as a mediator between the user of computer and computer hardware.
