Special Vacant Seats Filling Round, also known as the special round is conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board CSAB to fill the vacant seats at NITs, IIEST, IIITs and other GFTIs (Except IITs) after completion of all the JoSAA Rounds. The purpose of the special round is to fill the remaining vacant seats in the participating institutes. Candidates who are eligible for the special round have to register and fill in their choices again. The seat allocation in the special round is based on the candidate's rank and the availability of seats.

In this spot round counselling, students have to be physically present at the given institute.
