What is Supply Chain Management?

Supply chain management is not a limited subject, as it covers a number of topics, catering to a wide spectrum of concepts. Some parts of this programme include transportation management, warehousing, lean supply chain, performance-based logistics, strategic sourcing, constraints management, demand management and supply chain networking design. To meet the customer demand of a product or service there is a chain of processes involved right from the producer end like say, Sourcing / Procurement, Distribution, Warehouse, inventories etc. And managing those processes efficiently and effectively can be called Supply Chain Management.
