The candidate must be in good mental and physical health and free from any kind of bodily defect to interfere with the efficient performance required at the sea. The tested are mentioned below:
1. Constitution.
2. Skeletal System.
3. Ear, nose and throat.
4. Speech.
6. Cardiovascular System.
7. Respiratory System.
8. Digestive System.
9. Genitourinary System.
10. Skin.
11. Nervous System.
12. Eye Sight. -
DG Shipping, Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has defined medical requirements to be eligible for become marine engineer on a ship. Physical fitness is a must and the norms laid by DGS have to be met to get entry into the marine engineering courses.
The minimum height should be 150cms with correlated weight and proportionate chest with minimum 5cm expansion. Candidate will have to pass a medical fitness test for sea service standards norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no color blindness.
