What is the admission procedure for seeking admission in NITs ?

I have passed 12 board with 73% marks.is it correct to get a year drop for preparation of engineering entrance exam for getting NIT?

    Dear Ayush,
    In order to get admission in NITs, you need to appear and qualify JEE Mains entrance examination.
    The basic eligibility for admission in a bachelor’s degree is successfully completing higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subject such as physics, maths and chemistry.
