What is the admission procedure of LPU for Ph.D maths?

Yes, it will worth doing a Ph.D. from LPU (Lovely Professional University). The university is one of the best universities in Punjab. With the help of highly skilled teachers, LPU provides a supportive environment to its Ph.D. students. The university is also known for its record-breaking placements in multiple disciplines. It also organises workshops and guest lectures every now and then for its students so that they get to learn from experts. Masters degree with 55% aggregate marks in a relevant discipline.(5% relaxation to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled candidates). To get admission you must have to sit for LPUNEST(LPU's entrance test), an applicant will be short listed for interview on the basis of his/ her score in the LPUNEST. Note one thing The final selection for admission in Ph.D. will be based on the performance in Entrance Test (70% weightage) and Interview (30% weightage) subject to scoring minimum marks in the Interview. Applicants who qualify UGC (NET/ JRF)/ CSIR (NET/ JRF)/ ICAR (JRF/ SRF) examination/ SLET (Punjab only)/ GATE/ GPAT scorecard/ ICAR (NET), SPM, Teacher Fellowship holder or passed M.Phil. Programme (in regular mode only) is exempted from LPUNEST (Ph.D.) entrance test (GATE/ GPAT score should be valid at the time of admission). However, if anyone doesn't want to attempt LPUNEST entrance test in alernative of above mentioned tests, then 100% weightage will be given to Interview only.Unless otherwise specified by the University, the medium of instruction, course work, examination, question paper, synopsis and thesis will be English in all cases.

Hi there, Well, happy to hear somebody asking for PhD in LPU that too in Maths. I am myself pursuing Ph.D. in Mathematics from LPU and now in second year i am. The motivation for PhD from LPU myself got when i pursued Masters in the same from LPU. LPU to me has a very spacial place in my heart. When i joined LPU for pursuing Masters degree, during those two years i realized how good my decision to join LPU was. The faculty over there is too good i say. Then i decided to pursue doctorate from the same. Now here i am. The procedure is that you need to qualify an entrance LPUNEST first and then an interview. The syllabous per subject is as per the syllabus of UGC-NET and also given on LPU-website. On lpu-website, you can also find sample question papers related to your course. The test is not that hard to qualify and on the basis of performance in LPUNEST, one gets an amount of scholarship also. Then comes the interview part, it is just to examine a student's confidence and knowledge about reseasrch. Interview also is not that hard to qualify. Anybody who has studied Masters degree courses in detail can easily get admission in Ph.D. in LPU, be it any subject. Hope this helps. Thanks.
