What is the approximate difference in pay package after B.Tech from a top and an average college?

There cannot be a straightforward answer to this question. Some companies make the differentiation while others do not. Having said that, the difference in average pay for campus offers at top college and an average college would be somewhere around 30% and it will be largely attributable to different companies and different roles being offered. Important is to get an admission into a good engineering college, complete your engineering with good grades and a solid understanding of concepts and rest will follow on its. I must also say that choose an engineering branch of your interest and not driven by the potential. For example, if you like buildings and construction, go for Civil Engineering and not Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering.

I think the tag of a top tier college is the one factor that attracts the good companies, but finally, it is up to the student’s concepts and aptitude for the engineering that makes the difference in the package. Also, the high packages of more than 50 LPA or so are also given to guy’s form the top tier universities as the companies trust in the institutes framing in the student. However, when it comes to the average packages, there is not much difference in the pay for top colleges and average colleges. The companies that pay 5 LPA visits both, good and average colleges. Form the top college they might attract a good number of engineers and from the average college they might pick up low student number. You can see the ratio and get that, in top-tier colleges they get more worthy students and in average colleges, they select the worthy students that are available. Moreover, all the companies nowadays have their own screening exams for interviews, to make sure that no student with the decent score, but with no aptitude gets into the company. So, apart for the very high over sea packages, the companies visiting all colleges are almost same and make almost very less difference in packages.

Generally, the salary is independent of college if the talent and preparation you have made is substantial and when you can meet companies’ wants and needs. But everytime its not like that, there are many examples where a student from a below average college outperformance the students from top-notch institutes. Hello, This is an existential question faced by all those who are about to join work force. Of course we need money to survive and meet basic needs of "Anna, Vastra & Nivara", but then how much do we pay attention to it is the question.When one set to join a professional college, invariably issue of probable placements and corresponding pay packages crops up. It’s definitely not out of place but how much importance to be given is the critical issue. This issue is also inter-related with image of student’s good colleges getting astronomical packages. Sometimes its publicity sometimes it’s actual. Let’s us consider one live example of current year. Packages offered to students of IIT's versus those offered to students of a private college in remote corner of a state. Average package offered to IITian this was around Rs. 11 L while more than 50% students were left without placement in the other college. Why? Answer lies in the way admissions are made IIT's get cream of students. Obviously talent is in plenty and this results in brilliant pass outs as compared to any other set of colleges in India. Obviously recruiters are not blind. They too know this fact. This in turn results in fewer companies coming to the other colleges.To conclude, I must say that this results in difference of packages. I’ll get away with average package of more than Rs. 11 L while colleges lower down the hierarchy are able to place students with an average packages of as low as just Rs.2L. So this is the spectrum.
