Average pacakage cant be said, it differs here many student go for off campus placement , many for GATE . But mechies were selected in Indian Navy and Army , Railways ,even ISRO, few MNCs , Honda and Anglo-eastern.

It depends on the company & your skill & performance during the interview. The average salary package of Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay is approximately 8 to 10 lakh per annum & from IIT Kanpur it is approximately 7.5 to 8 Lakh Per annum, moreover from where you did mechanical engineering. LPU alumni are working in top MNCs across the globe like Voltas International, Honda Two Wheelers, Asahi India Glass Ltd., Indo Farm Tractors Ltd. Etc. LPU Students have been offered International locations like Dubai and Oman by Voltas. LPU is basically an industry oriented university not like the other universities focusing on just making students grasp the syllabus.
