Average pacakage cant be said, it differs here many student go for off campus placement , many for GATE . But mechies were selected in Indian Navy and Army , Railways ,even ISRO, few MNCs , Honda and Anglo-eastern.

It depends on the company & your skill & performance during the interview. The average salary package of Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay is approximately 8 to 10 lakh per annum & from IIT Kanpur it is approximately 7.5 to 8 Lakh Per annum, moreover from where you did mechanical engineering. As an alumni of LPU, i would say that LPU is the better choice to pursue your engineering. LPU does provide B.Tech in Mechanical.
