Ideally taking the GMAT 12-18 months before your target programme start date should leave more than enough time for the other activities in the application process.Having your GMAT score ready at least 3 months in advance of the application deadline ensures that you have enough time to complete the other parts .You can take the GMAT once every 16 days, up to five times in 12 months, so allowing time for a retake can reduce stress and boost your chances of achieving.

Although, there is no perfect time to appear for the GMAT, however, one should have the GMAT score results with him/her at the time of filing the application. GMAT exam scores are valid for 5 years. There are a few factors that play an important role in the decision of your GMAT exam date.
