Students admitted to IIT Kharagpur's (Hons.)/Dual Degree/BBS Programs through JEE (Advanced) are only eligible to change their branch after fulfilling a set of rules. The students can change their branch after the second (spring) semester. The branch change cutoff for mathematics and computing in 2017–18 was 9.60. To be eligible, students must have obtained a GPA not lower than 8.5 at the end of the second (spring) semester, excluding the below subjects:
Subjects Credit DIY Project 2 English for Communication 2 Science of Living Systems 3 Environmental Science 2 EAA (NCC/NSS/NSO (H&F)/NSO (Sports and Games)/ NCA 2 Total Credit 11
