According to UGC norms, an assistant professor or lecturer who has earned a Ph.D. will be promoted to the associate professor position after serving for approximately 12 years. Or, after serving for 13 years, candidates with an M.Phil. Or a PG degree enrolled in a professional programme will be promoted to the position of Associate Professor.
