    MBBS education in India requires students to have a compulsory internship where they are rotated through different fields of medicine. The internship provides students with hands-on training in different forms of medicine and is a requirement for a person to obtain their MBBS degree and become a registered practitioner in India.  

    The purpose of the MBBS internship is to give medical students an experience as their community's first point of contact to medicine. The internship must be completed within two years of the student passing their last MBBS/FMGE /NExT exam where applicable.
