What is the criteria of promotion for IBPS Clerk?

An IBPS clerk can apply for promotion after minimum two years of his/her service. They get promoted once in two years. Here is the hierarchy of promotion:
• Assistant Manager Scale I
•Manager Scale 2
•Senior Manager Scale 3
•Chief Manager Scale 4
•Assistant General Manager Scale 5
•Deputy General Manager Scale 6
•General Manager Scale 7
Note : No JAIIB and CAIIB diplomas are required for such promotions.

After working as a clerk for at least two years, candidates may apply for promotions. Seniority and merit are used to determine promotions (with or without JAIIB and CAIIB). Below are the tiers of promotion:
Level 1: Assistant Manager
Level 2: Manager
Level 3: Senior Manager
Level 4: Cheif Manager
Level 5: Assistant General Manager
Level 6: Deputy General Manager
Level 7: General Manager

Based on the performance of candidates, they are eligible for promotion after two years. There are two process through which candidates get promotion. Candidates who get promoted through the normal process are not required to appear for JAIIB and CAIIB diplomas. They are promoted based on their experience, seniority and performance in the written exam which is conducted internally. For merit-based promotion, candidates are require to have JAIIB and CAIIB diplomas from the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
