The various fashion designing exams in India are:
1) NIFT Entrance test held by National Institute of Fashion Technology. NIFT exam isdivided into four parts: Situation testGeneral ability testCreative ability testManagerial ability test
2) Common Entrance Exam for Design(CEED): Awell known All India Level Exam for engineers, post graduates and fine arts graduates for admission to post graduate degree programs in design offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati and IISc Bangalore. To be eligible for this exam one must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, design or interior design or it's equivalent.

National Institute for Design, Ahmedabad conducts NEED across India at 11 centres for admission to the GDPD Graduate Diploma Programme in Design which has 100 seats in the Ahmedabad campus. The cost of the application form for NEED is Rs. 1,500.
Eligibility: Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalents like AISSCE/IB/ICSE etc. are eligible for NEED. Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years.
Application deadline: November
Exam date: January
Test pattern and selection: The entrance exam tests the candidate's aptitude and skills for design by testing mental ability, creativity, drawing and communication skills and worldview. Those who qualify the written test are called for studio tests and personal interview.
2)COMMON ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR DESIGN (CEED)
CEED is a qualifying examination for postgraduate programmes in design like MDes in the IIT's. IIT Bombay is the organising institute for CEED 2011. The cost of the application form is Rs. 950.
Eligibility:
(i) Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Architecture/Design
(ii) Professional Diploma of NID/ Professional Diploma of CEPT
(iii) BFA (iv) GD Art & 1 year professional experience
(v) Master's degree in Arts/Science/ Computer Applications.
Application deadline: November
Exam date: January
Test pattern and selection: CEED is a paper-based test of 3 hours duration. The objective of CEED is to assess the candidate's aptitude for design, involving visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, and communication skills. CEED results will be mailed only to those who qualify. Students have to apply to respective IIT's, IISc for admission along with CEED score.

* For preparation, you require the right approach along with the right study materials and strategy. You need to know the content of the test, to ace it.
* Plan your preparation after knowing your strengths and weaknesses. You need to be organized and follow a time-table.
