You can join Merchant Navy by appearing in a Common Admission test conducted by IMU (Indian Maritime University) twice a year (usually held in Dec & June). Students who are in XIIth as of now can appear for this exam in June for the batch beggining in August. Lower age limit is 17 & upper is 25 year
