1- Junior Engineers come under Group C for very freshers having a pay scale of INR 9400 to INR 34800 Grade Pay 4600 and after 3 years of working you will be in Group B but the post will be the same I. e. SSE, the only difference will be in the pay scale incremented by 12 percent.

3- Promotions in this field is based on Seniority so it can't be guaranteed that you will be promoted just after the 3 years of joining, which usually happens in railways job for the Indian Engineering Service. Promotion could take 5 to 6 years to be a senior in the department and about 10 years to come out from Group B.
4- Indian Engineering Service is a gazetted post. A section engineer needs to spend 10 years to reach these posts having conditions of Seniority in their Department.
5- Indian Engineering Service post does not have any close identities with the freshers of SSE.
6- JE junior engineer cant be promoted to the post of IES throughout his whole career. JE could only be up to SSE or A very senior in a department or Section but no further.

For SSE: INR 9,400 to INR 34,800
basic pay: INR 9400 having 4600 Grade pay equals INR 14,000 in total basic. DA of basic: 119 percent I. e INR 16,660
HRA: 30 percent of basics for metros cities I. e. INR 4200
TA: for BIKE- 8 rs/km or for CAR- 16rs/km and there are many depends on the performance of individuals like Over time, Night shift allowance, Leave, Gratitude, Risk, etc. Many are there. Total: INR 14000+ INR 16660+ INR 4200+ INR 3000 TA+ INR 2500 - INR 40,300 or usually INR 38000 to INR 39000 (based on the 6th pay commission).
9- Perks: Own a quarter B types, Medicals for self and Dependents, free 1st class Pass for railways travel in a particular route (including Rajdhani, Satabdi, Toronto) 3 in a year for 4 months each, free schooling for children, free clubs, etc. Within Township Not in Open Line.
