Aerospace engineering is the primary field of engineering concerned with the development of aircraft and spacecraft. It has two major and overlapping branches: aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering. Aerospace is one of the various fields studied in LPU. Highlights/Achievements of Aerospace Engineering in LPU:The students with the guidance of the department and University are very active in the field of automobile research and activities. Student has an Automobile club under Society of Automobiles India, Under which the teams have participated in various competitions by making their vehicle in Supra SAE (Student Formula...more

Aerospace engineering focuses on designing both aircraft and spacecraft and it is a study of all the space crafts used within and out of the earth's atmosphere while Aeronautical Engineering is the study of aircraft that operates within the earth's atmosphere. Being an alumni I want to share my thoughts on this as my sister has done the same course from LPU itself. Aerospace is a specialised branch of engineering which deals with the skills and knowledge to design, manufacture and maintain spacecrafts, aircrafts, missiles and weapons systems. The course curriculum covers aspects of two branches of engineering - aeronautical and astrona...more

There are some basic differences between Aeronautical Engineering & Aerospace Engineering related to course structure, prospect etc. I have listed down some of the difference as per my understanding. For Aeronautical Engineering :
Programme Structure: - Fixed Scheme
Primary Focus: - They work with aircraft that stay within the earth's atmosphere such as airplanes and helicopters. Covers Navigation, Metrology, Design of Airdromes, and public policy also for airports etc. Facts:- None of the IITs offer aeronautical engineering degree. For Aerospace Engineering:
Programme Structure:-
Fixed Scheme
specialisation can be offered in (I) Ther...more -
Aeronautical Engineering is correct word as said in previous answer. Aerospace engineering could be considered a specialisation of aeronautical engineering. If you have doubt about it then check the official AICTE syllabus and curriculum for both the subjects on their official website. That should make things clear and should give you a better idea.

Presently in India the scope of placements in this is limited to few government entities like armed forces, ISRO or DRDO. Private industry is not yet fully developed but I am sure by the time you pass out four years from today, the indu...more
