What is the difference between B.Tech in biotechnology and B.Sc in biotechnology?

The major difference between any B. Sc degree and B. Tech degree is the fact that admission to B. Tech is a professional engineering degree and only approved engineering institutes are authorized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (India) (UGC) to give this degree; B.Sc, however, is an academic course which is available in almost every college of India. So B.Tech degree has a higher brand value and employability quotient. The course of B.Sc. Biotechnology is of 3 years while that of B. Tech Biotechnology extends over a span of 4 years. LPU provides both B.Sc and B.Tech degree in Biotechnology The eligibility criteria for both are as follow BSc. Biotechnology - 60% in chemistry, physics ,Maths/Biology + LPUNest B.Tech Biotechnology - 60% with English, physics, maths/biology, chemistry +LPUNest Biotechnology covers many different disciplines (eg. genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, etc.). New technologies and products are developed every year within the areas of eg. medicine (development of new medicines and therapies), agriculture (development of genetically modified plants, biofuels, biological treatment) or industrial biotechnology (production of chemicals, paper, textiles and food). the major highlights are : 1. Dear Kunal, BTech is a 4 years course while B.Sc is a 3 years course. In B. Tech Biotechnology you will learn about other branches of engineering also in your first year whereas in B.Sc biotechnology you will directly learn about your core subjects. My friend did BTech in Biotechnology from LPU and shared her experience with me. A few of the major highlights of this programme at LPU are : 1. B.Tech is a 4 years course while B.Sc. Is a 3 years course. In B.Tech Biotechnology you will learn about other branches of engineering also in your first year whereas in B.Sc. Biotechnology you will directly learn about your core subjects. Biotechnology lays emphasis on the theoretical aspects of the various subjects while B.Tech Biotechnology focuses attention on the application of theoretical knowledge. B.Tech has more focus on industrial processes and provides an opportunity to do summer training or internship in related industries. Hi, B.Sc. is the study of fundamentals of Science whereas B. Tech. is about the application of science. F=MA is science and a vehicle is something engineered using this formula. So, the methods of designs on the principles of science are engineering. Technology is a cause because of which we get a new or better design.

Let me start with the Basic difference of B.Tech. & B.Sc. In Bio-Technology domain. B.Sc. Is pure Science (less Practical Labs, less Industry Exposure) while B.Tech is Technology oriented with Industry driven curriculum. B.Tech is a 4 years course while B.Sc. Is a 3 years course. In B.Tech Biotechnology you will learn about other branches of engineering also in & your first year whereas in B.Sc. Biotechnology you will directly learn about your core subjects. Of course you will also get exposure about other Science subjects but your course will have maximum papers from your honours subject only. In B.Tech biotechnology the main subjects start from second year and you will have a lot of laboratory work and more subjects. Biochemistry would be an important paper in B.Tech. And you will also have to deal with many Differential Equations. On the contrary in B.Sc. Biotechnology you will have a relaxed schedule and less laboratory work as compared to B.Tech. In B.Tech, application of whatever is being taught is given more importance while in B.Sc. Biotechnology theoretical part is given more importance. Being alumni I must say, in Lovely professional University both the courses are taught with equal priority. In case of Placement even students get equal focus from LPU. They used to get prepared for placement further as per their career pathway. B.Tech means Bachelor of technology where you have apply science in real life as it all about science whereas B.Sc is the study about science in order to become a professor.
