Diploma is a non-degree program and will not make you eligible for any government job opportunity where a degree is required and also you cannot go for higher education.
Still, you can work as an opthalmic assistant with various organisations with an average salary of around 10K per month. B.Sc Optom

It's advisable to do a degree. You may expect around 15k per month.
