Major is your primary subject, while minor is a secondary subject which helps to understand the major better. While elective may or may not be from your major. It is an additional course which you can take according to your interest. Minor is compulsory and has no option.

Minors are compulsory, but they are not your major subjects, whereas in electives you would have multiple choices to choose from.

You need to consult with your academic officials for your open and minors because that is somehow related to the subject matter so better to talk with them.
