What is the difference between engineering in CS and MCA?

    B.Tech CS is an engineering degree which give CSE graduates strong foundation in Computational Science with Mathematics background. It exposes students on Systems aspect of programming. Whereas MCA emphasis is on Business Applications development and Programming. CSE graduates can do Apps and Systems programming with ease whereas MCA graduates will find it difficult to do systems programming. CSE graduates are cream of engineering colleges as only toppers are able to get admission in CSE. Becauae of this, Indian IT industry prefers B.Tech CSE grads over MCA grads. Based on my personal experience in Industry for 33 years, I can say B.

    MCA or Master of Computer Application is a general Master's degree course related with computer application. It simultaneously deals with software and hardware functions and implementations. On the other hand, a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering is a technical Bachelor's degree course, which is also related with software and hardware. But the difference in these two are that an MCA student knows the theory part of software and hardware more than a B.Tech student.
