    No, both are different exams. GATE is related to engineering students, which make you to get PSU's or admission in different IIT, NIT and other colleges. IIT JAM is for the students who pursue B.Sc and get M.Sc after this exam.

    No, they are not same. GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an all India entrance exam which allows candidates to apply for IITs, NITs, IISc, and a few other applied sciences institutes/universities. GATE exam can only be given by the candidates with applied Science degrees like B.E and B.Tech, to pursue M.Tech and M.Sc by research integrated Ph.D and direct Ph.D programmes. IIT JAM (Joint Admission test for M.Sc) is an all India entrance exam which allows candidates to apply for IITs, IISERs, IISc, and NITs.   • No, they are not. GATE is for post graduate engineering studies, while IIT JAM is for post graduate arts and sciences courses like M.Sc. But, both these are used for admission into top ranking colleges in India.

No, a duplicate GATE 2026 admit card will not be provided at the test center. Candidates must carry their own admit card along with the mentioned documents and items to the GATE exam center. IIT Guwahati will release the GATE admit card on January 2.

Candidates will get only one scribble pad at a time. They must write their name and registration number before using it. If the rough sheet gets filled, then they can ask for another one scribble pad after returning the previous one to the invigilator. After the exam concludes, candidates must return the scribble pad to the invigilator.
