ESE and IES both are the same. IES stands for Indian Engineering Services, and ESE stands for Engineering Services Examination. It is a category of posts in UPSE. The UPSC ESE (Union Public Service Commission-Engineering Services Exam), also known as the UPSC IES (Union Public Service Commission-Indian Engineering Services), recruits officers to cater to the technical and engineering needs of the country.
